“The excitement of the birthday parties and sharing experiments with a large group of children is great. I really enjoy visiting schools and working with them to build on the science topics pupils have been learning about in the classroom. Plus I love the challenge of creating workshops to answer the different questions and interests of my home educated groups.” – Kinetic Kate, Fun Science Dorset (Launched August 2015)
“Birthday parties are just the best to do. The fact that a child has said “can I have a science party” is brilliant but then for the parent to ask Fun Science Cheshire along to deliver the party is a privilege. From the initial contact, discussing a date and time, package preferences and any extras, the excitement begins for the family (and that rubs off on me too!). I enjoy putting the kit together and the drive is always good as you know the work ahead involves making slime, mini volcanoes, mentos and diet pop plus much more. It’s not really ‘work’ it is pure ‘fun’. By the end of the party the feedback is really positive with comments of “this was the best party ever” not uncommon to hear. The birthday child and parents are happy and I get to leave feeling a job well done.” – Molecular Marty, Fun Science Sheffield (Launched June 2015).
“My favourite science experiment is probably the rockets – so much fun, especially when they have eggs attached to them!! I think the favourite one with the kids is probably the slime making, they just love getting messy!!” – Jurassic Jackie, Fun Science Sussex (Launched July 2015).
A Fun Science Franchise is profitable as well as fun! Just two months after launching Fun Science Sheffield, Magnetc Milla was already predicting a monthly turnover of £1700. She fits the running of her branch around completing her PhD.
“I’ve not been pushing the marketing because I’m pretty busy with my PhD at the moment, so I am aiming to slowly ramp things up as I have more time available. Despite having done limited marketing so far, I’ve still got two after schools clubs in Jan/ Feb, both of which are fully booked, and four parties during this time period. I expect these to bring in around £1700 from mid Jan to mid Feb, before tax and business expenses. In March I have five science week workshops, with another school currently thinking about booking. I’ve also got a further seven workshops booked in for June.” – Magnetic Milla, Fun Science Sheffield (Launched October 2016)“.
