Home Science Kits

This page has been created in response to the current Covid-19 Crisis. We are a small business and we rely fully on science parties, workshops and after school clubs to make a living – none of which we are able to do at the moment.

In order to keep the business afloat and keep children excited about science, we have come up with a couple of ideas that we can do via the internet and postal service. You can also click on ‘blog’ in the top right hand corner of this page for lots of free ideas of science experiments you can do at home.

HOME SCIENCE KITS – Each week we will be producing small kits on different topics which include everything you need to do some experiments at home, along with a supporting webpage with videos and instructions to go with the kit. These kits can be delivered anywhere in the UK for £5 (including postage) and are suitable for children aged 5-11 but are recommended to be done with adult supervision for younger children.

See “Fun Science Home Kits (Bath)” on Facebook, or click here to visit our online shop. Each week we will let you know what the activity will be and you just let us know if you would like to purchase that kit. You are also welcome to set up a standing order and receive kits every week but there is no obligation to do so.

CODING CLUB (Nationwide) –  We are launching a coding club for beginner coders aged 7 – 14 with younger children needing a little bit of adult help to complete the tasks and older children able to complete the activities on their own. Activities will start simple and get progressively more complicated as children get to grips with coding and there will be extension activities available too. You will need access to a computer with a USB socket and an internet connection.

The code club costs £26 and once you join our code club, you will receive in the post the following:

  • BBC Micro:bit – a very small, simple, codeable computer which can be used to make games, simple animations and much more. It includes an accelerometer, LEDs and, temperature and light sensors.
  • Compatible battery pack
  • USB Cable
  • 2 x AAA Batteries
  • Wire suitable for buzz wire game
  • Crocodile clip test leads x 2
You will also receive an email inviting you to join our private Facebook group where you can share your children’s creations and discuss additional ideas and experiments. This is optional and a Facebook account is not required.
We will be fully launching the code club on the 30th March 2020. From 30 March – 3 April at 10am each day we will be releasing an activity which your children will be able to do with the equipment in the kit.
