Children deserve some fun this year so we have planned some action packed days of scientific experiments and exploration. Plenty of fizzing, bubbles, potions and mess! All sessions run in line with government guidelines and come with a full refund policy if rules change so we can guarantee maximum safety and maximum FUN!
We will be running six days of scientific fun in Bath during the summer holidays. Children are welcome to join us at just one day or many different days across the summer as we are now able to accept single day bookings again. Days are suitable for children aged 4-11 and all sessions have a first aider on site. The club will be held on the 27th, 28th and 29th July from 10am – 3pm at The Asension Church hall, Bath, BA2 1AE near Moorland Road in Oldfield Park and on the 10th, 11th and 12th August at St Barnabas Church Hall, Mount Road, BA2 1JX in Southdown, Bath.
There will be optional stay and play hours from 9am-10am and 3pm-4pm (£3 per hour per child).
27th July – Rockets and Cars (Ascension Church) – This day is all about movement and engineering. Children will be launching rockets, learning about engines and creating self-powered cars. We will also be learning about the scientific method and trying to improve our designs and inventions.
28th July – Volcanoes and Earthquakes (Ascension Church) – Help us build a GIANT volcano in the garden which we will then be erupting! We will also be learning how real volcanoes erupt and what causes an earthquake. A great session for children who like really big eruptions and fizzing, bubbling potions.
29th July – Special Effects (Ascension Church) – This day is all about green screens, sound effects and sci-fi films. Children will be experimenting with the science behind special effects in their favourite films and making parts of their body disappear with our green screen. There will also be a fiery experiment too!
10th August – Bubbles and Mixtures (St Barnabas) – The summer is a perfect time for lots of bubble based experiments and if the sun doesn’t shine, we will blow bubbles inside instead! We will make colourful bubbles, big bubbles, small bubbles, sticky bubbles and even biodegradeable plastic bubbles! There will also be time for some potion making as well.
11th August – Electrical Inventions (St Barnabas) – In this session, children will be working with electrical circuits and making their own burglar alarm to take home with trip wires and pressure sensors. They will also be experimenting with lights and motors.
12th August – Survival Science (St Barnabas) – In this session, children will be learning how to filter water, create fire from flint and steel, cook safely on a fire, build dens and much more to help them survive in the great outdoors. We will also be exploring nature in our exciting garden and learning how we can use it but also protect it.
