Families in West Lancs get to grips with hands on Fun Science
On the 15th November over 100 children and their parents had the chance to test out some hands on science equipment at a free event at Haresfinch Rugby and Social Club. The event was run by Fun Science to celebrate the launch of their new West Lancs branch which will run science themed birthday parties, workshops and holiday clubs across North Liverpool, Wigan, Chorley, Southport, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, St Helens and surrounding areas.
Activities on offer included slime making, hair raising on a Van de Graaff generator and a plasma ball. Plus, children were able to explore changing heart rates and making a human circuit with their parents. Throughout the morning there were also frequent lemonade fountains and rocket launches run by Wacky Jacky, who will be heading up the new branch. Local mum Clare Kay said that the kids “absolutely loved it!”
Fun Science West Lancs will be owned and managed by Jacqueline Boylan of Bootle, Merseyside who has over two years’ experience getting children interested in science. Jacqueline (aka Wacky Jacky) is looking forward to meeting lots of budding scientists across the area and will be offering free assemblies for all local schools.
