Fun Science Code Club Kit
15 in stock (can be backordered)
In light of the current Covid-19 crisis we are launching a coding club to keep children busy and to help our staff to receive an income whilst our clubs and parties are unable to run. We recommend this activity for beginner coders aged 7 – 14 with younger children needing a little bit of adult help to complete the tasks and older children able to complete the activities on their own. Activities will start simple and get progressively more complicated as children get to grips with coding and there will be extension activities availble too. You will need access to a computer with a USB socket and an internet connection.
Once you join our code club, you will receive in the post the following
- BBC Micro:bit – a very small, simple, codeable computer which can be used to make games, simple animations and much more. It includes an accelerometer, LEDs and light sensors.
- Compatible battery pack
- USB Cable
- 2 x AAA Batteries
- Wire suitable for buzz wire game
- Crocodile clip test leads x 2
You will also receive an email inviting you to join our private Facebook group where you can share your children’s creations and discuss additional ideas and experiments. This is optional and a Facebook account is not required.
Next, we will provide you with access to an exclusive part of our website (password protected) with written instructions and videos to help you complete five different projects (ten activities in total). Activities will include making a simple animation, creating a light sensor, making a working step counter, coding a compass, making a motion activated rock, paper scissors game, making a playable reaction game and finishing with creating a wire following game.
With each project, we will be releasing easy to follow instructions, videos for some of the trickier parts and will be providing help and assistance via email and Facebook so you can contact us with any questions and we can help your children work through any problems that may arise. We expect each project to last around 30 minute – 60 minutes and you can work through them daily or save them all up for the coming weeks if you wish.
