Bath: February Half Term

Fun Science is back in Bath in February half term and this time we will be having 4 days of fun instead of 3. Send your little scientists to us for a club packed full of experimenting and of course, FUN! Each day is run by highly trained Fun Scientists with enhanced DBS checks and first aid training and is jam-packed with experiments, games, crafts and explosions.February holiday club Bath 2020

The club will run on 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st February from 10am-3pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Mount View, Bath, BA2 1JX with optional ‘stay and play’ from 9am-10am and 3pm-4pm. The days are perfect for children aged 4-10. The cost is £24 per child and £22 for siblings, with a block booking discount available when booking all 4 days.

18th February – Thinking like a scientist – Scientists spend their lives asking questions and this is exactly what we will be doing. Children will be working on solo and group tasks to answer a range of questions such as ‘can we explode lemonade with anything other than mentos?’ ‘what ingredients make the best toothpaste?’ and ‘which chemical can be used to blow up a balloon the fastest’. Experiments will be varied between groups to ensure this day is simple enough for our youngest scientists whilst still stretching our older scientists.

19th February – Eco warriors – Learn about the risks our planet faces from global warming and increased emissions and ways that children and adults can take action to reduce these risks. Pupils will be investigating wind and solar power, creating eco-bricks, seeing what will happen if the ice caps melt and making an air powered mini hovercraft! Children will also be making wildflower seed bombs to take home.

20th February – Atoms and molecules – Atoms and molecules make up absolutely everything but they aren’t as complicated as they seem! Children will be using atom building sets to make real and imaginary molecules and experimenting with edible atoms! Even the youngest children will gain an understanding of atoms as we model experiments with Lego and then carry them out with real fizzing, bubbling chemicals.

21st February – Magnificent Magnets – We think magnets are just like magic and we love playing with them! Children will be experimenting with making electromagnets, using magnets to paint a picture and creating a magnetic game to take home. We will have a range of different magnets and magnetic toys to play with and even be having a giant magnetic treasure hunt!

All children will need a packed lunch and mid morning snack. Things can get messy at Fun Science so we recommend old clothing.
