5 UK Science Venues for Kids

There’s lots that can be taught from a classroom and even more on a field trip. Science attractions engage children and inspire them to learn more about the world around them. They give them the opportunity to explore their curiosity and learn from the experts in the field themselves. We have teamed up with a sixth form college in London to share 5 top science venues and events that you need to take your child to.

Leicester Space Centre
If your child is a space fan, they’ll love Leicester’s award-winning space centre. Its planetarium is the largest that the UK has to offer. You can guarantee that they’ll walk away mind-blown after receiving a life-like space experience at its 3D space-flight simulator. It has a total of six hands-on galleries so there will be plenty for them to learn and explore.

We the Curious
If you’re down south, why not check out We the Curious in Bristol? It hosts space shows every day in its huge orb-planetarium to provide 3D tours of the solar system. There are fun and engaging learning opportunities suitable for younger children with a keen interest too. Children under the age of 6 can go on rocket ship adventures and have a taste of what it’s like to work up in space.

The Science Museum
For the biologists and chemists out there, London’s Science Museum carries an array of world-class medical technology that it uses to research and explore human development. There’s lots to do with exhibitions covering space and more. Tickets are mostly free but there may be ones that you have to pay for.

Birmingham’s Think Tank
The Think Tank is an award-winning science and technology museum with lots for a fun family day out. It has over 200 displays for children to touch and explore during their visit from steam engines to chocolate wrapping machines. Its hands on exhibits will help you to teach your child about the world around them and what it was once like with its impressive historical collections.

Kew Gardens
Kew Gardens in Richmond boasts beautiful, lush gardens with over 50,000 plant species!
Your child will be amazed when they see how beautiful and magnificent nature can be.
